The Top 25, according to the money.
Poll voters watch highlights. Sportsbooks put real money on the line. We turn every college football point spread into one power rating per team, and rank the teams the way the market sees them. We call it the v25.
The v25
Rating: how many points they'd beat an average FBS team by on a neutral field (+20 means a 20-point favorite). Range: where they'd rank in 9 of 10 simulations; a wide range means the market is less sure.
On the bubble
Next five, with the chance each is really a top-25 team.
How it works
Collect the lines
We record the point spread for every game from eleven U.S. sportsbooks, all season long.
Use the closing number
The last line before kickoff is the market's sharpest estimate. We take the median across books.
Solve for ratings
One rating per team, per week, that best explains every spread, with home field and neutral sites built in. Ratings move as the market changes its mind.
Rank, with honesty
A rating is the margin a team would beat an average FBS team by on a neutral field. Each team gets a rank range from 4,000 simulations.
